Lockville
Lockville was the original name for the community now known as Hulbert, located in Dundas County.
The post office in the community was first opened under the name Lockville in 1888. Henry Ellis served as the postmaster for the Lockville office.
Historical records indicate that the community supported a cheese factory during the time it was known as Lockville. The community eventually became known as Hulbert, and as noted in the history of that settlement, the post office was later closed following the inauguration of rural mail delivery.
Additionally, while not explicitly linked to the naming of the village, the name Locke appears frequently in the history of the surrounding area. Notable individuals include Dr. Mahlon W. Locke, a world-famous physician from Williamsburg, and William Locke, who donated land for the church in nearby Brinston.
